CPD CTA-Focused Strategy

This month, the Chicago Police Department unveiled a new Public Transportation Section Strategic Decision Support Center (SDSC) focused solely on safety across the Chicago Transit Authority system. This SDSC room leverages technology and CTA's vast camera network to monitor activity across the transit system in real time, allowing information to be relayed to officers in the field more quickly.  The focus is on strengthening safety on the CTA and holding offenders accountable, such as the four offenders charged earlier this month with felony aggravated battery. This July, Part I transit crimes dropped 26% compared to this time last year. Month to date, violent crime on the CTA is down 30% and there's a 19% decline in property crime.
