Internships at the 48th Ward Office

Summer Internships

Each summer, the 48th ward hosts approximately five paid interns based on office needs. Dates vary by program but typically go from June to August.

We partner with One Summer Chicago and Mikva Summer Fellows for the majority of our internship opportunities. Please contact those organizations directly for application information.

We also have one Summer Aldermanic Intern through the City of Chicago. To apply to be our Summer Aldermanic Intern, send your cover letter and resume to apply@the48thward.org by May 1st. 

Fall and Spring Internships

Fall and Spring internships are offered as needed and subject to availability of funds. Dates vary but typically go from August to December for fall and January to May for Spring.

What to Expect as a 48th Ward Intern

48th ward office internships are project-based. Each intern has a large project to work on for the duration of their internship. Additionally, they assist with tasks as assigned by their manager. Each intern has one staff person who line manages their work.

48th ward interns have the opportunity to visit City Hall and meet with the Alderwoman. 48th ward interns may also request 1:1 meetings with other staff members to learn about their jobs/careers.
