May 15, 2025 marks two full years since Alderwoman Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth’s inauguration day! In that time, we’ve been proud to serve you through countless community events, infrastructure improvements, public safety initiatives, day-to-day city services, policy work, and more. It’s important for us to continually reflect back on our work to see how far we’ve come and to help us look ahead at what’s next. In this post, you’ll find a list of resources that summarize our team’s work and the incredible strides that our community has made together. We look forward to what's ahead in the 48th ward in year three!

  • On August 14, 2024 our office held a town hall meeting to discuss 48th ward infrastructure projects including bicycle & pedestrian safety, people places, RPM, parks-based projects, and more. Read about everything we discussed at that meeting here.

Many of these projects are still ongoing, and many more have been added to the list. Our newsletter is the best place to keep up-to-date about infrastructure and construction.

  • Over the past two years, we’ve collaborated with government agencies, community-based organizations, and neighbors on our Safe48 Health & Safety Plan. At the 48th ward office, we’re using a trauma-informed lens to disrupt the cycleof violence. To do this, we need to:

    • Increase capacity of our youth service providers to provide opportunities for our young people

    • Address the root causes of violence with workforce development, housing, and economic development.

    • Increase police presence with a community policing lens (i.e. foot and bike patrol)

    Learn more here.

  • Our office is proud to have brought Participatory Budgeting (PB) to the 48th ward for the very first time! PB is a process through which the community comes up with ideas for how we should spend out infrasrtutcure budget and then votes on those ideas.

  • The 48th ward is full of engaged neighbors who are excited to work together to help our community thrive. Since our office opened, we’ve worked to create opportunities for collaboration and volunteerism including our committees:
