New 48th Ward Speed Cameras
To enhance pedestrian safety and attempt to slow down drivers, the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) has begun the process of installing two new speed cameras in Child Safety Zones within our ward:
Broadway (near Broadway Armory Park) – As of April 1, ticketing at this location is underway.
Sheridan Rd. (near Park 559) – Installation for this location is planned for Spring/Summer 2025. Please note that in previous communications we incorrectly listed 5850 N Sheridan as the installation address. The correct location is on Sheridan next to Park 559 (6151 N Sheridan Rd.)
These speed cameras aim to improve safety for pedestrians, especially children, near our parks and community spaces.
