For February, we’re highlighting three Black-owned businesses in the ward! Check out these local spots next time you’re dining, shopping, or hanging out in 48!
SOMEWHERE TO EAT - Tesfa Cuisine - 5352 North Broadway
In Ahmaric, Tesfa means "Hope." Tesfa Cuisine’s family originates from a village in southern Ethiopia where drought, tribal conflict, and war forced them to move in search of somewhere better to call home. Throughout their journey, Tesfa’s family carried hope in their hearts, and now, they hope to make our community better by providing a place for friends and family to gather and share fresh, healthy, authentic Ethiopian food.
SOMEWHERE TO SHOP - African Safari Imports - 1140 W Bryn Mawr
Paulo Bombe is the CEO and Manager of the African Safari Imports shop right here on Bryn Mawr! He creates beautiful African acrylic paintings that you can shop for in-store or online. Visit the store to shop for art, clothing, accessories, jewelry, skin care products, spiritual artifacts, and more. Or, stop by to join Paulo in the Ancestors Shrine to connect and communicate with the spirits of those who have passed.
