The 48th ward office is committed to government transparency. That means sharing our own work clearly and openly and connecting our neighbors with city-wide transparency resources. We’ll continue updating this blog post as new resources become available.

• Workforce Vacancies Dashboard

  View the Office of Budget Management’s Workforce Vacancy Data Dashboard. This is first time that vacancy data for all city departments has been made publicly available.

  The Workforce Vacancy Data Dashboard:

  • Provides point-in-time insight into the number of vacant positions across all City departments, refreshed on the first day of each month.

  • Ensures transparency by making the underlying data available to city stakeholders, elected officials, decision makers and the public on the city’s Open Data Portal.

  • Enhances workforce planning efforts by allowing Members of City Council to track and review vacancy trends over time.

• ARO Rental Buildings Map

  The Department of Housing has published an interactive map titled "ARO Rental Buildings" which shows rental properties with Affordable Requirements Ordinance (ARO) units across the city. Each data point on the map represents a specific property. Clicking on each point reveals the property’s address, contact information, and ARO unit details (i.e. unit type and area median income levels). • OIG Public Safety Dashboard

  The Office of Inspector General’s (OIG) public safety data dashboard provides a detailed, up-close view into the duties and performance of active public safety employees. Visit the dashboard to see data and information on:

  • 911 Calls

  • CPD Arrests

  • Complaints/Notifications

  • Investigatory Stop Reports

  • Sworn CPD Members & Patrol Staffing

  • Tactical Reponse Reports

  • CFD Emergency Events

• Aldermanic Menu Spending by Year

  Each year, the Aldermanic Menu Program allocates $1.5 million for each ward for permanent infrastructure projects and repairs.

  The Office of Budget Management (OBM) keeps year-by-year records of aldermanic menu spending on this webpage. These records indicate the projects that each alder funded through menu each year.

• Road to Recovery Plan Impact Dashboard

  This dashboard builds on the existing features of the ARPA Information Hub, the city’s Road to Recovery ARPA Plan website. The addition of the impact data further underscores the transformative reach and impact of the Road to Recovery Plan in neighborhoods across Chicago.

  For the first time, the public can explore detailed information on ARPA spending and track both financial progress and measurable outcomes of ARPA-funded programs to our communities.

• Bond-Funded Project Reports

  The Department of Planning and Development (DPD) and the Department of Housing (DOH) publish quartlery reports to the City Council detailing any expenditures, allocation or awards of bond funds. They also maintain a public online map tracking all Bond-funded projects. See these reports online here.

• Chicago Data Portal

  Where are TV shows and movies being filmed? How clean is my favorite restaurant? The City of Chicago Open Data portal has information on everything from buildings to transporation to public health and more! Search for datasets here.
