Federal Judge Dismisses Trump Administration’s Challenge of Illinois Sanctuary Measures

sanctuary city committment

Earlier this year, the Justice Department brought a lawsuit against our city claiming that local and state officials were violating the constitution by limiting their cooperation with immigration agents. We are pleased to share that on July 25 the U.S. District Court dismissed this lawsuit.

In the 48th ward, we believe in protecting our neighbors, honoring our shared humanity, and standing up for what is right. Our office is committed to bringing people together in solidarity and defending civil liberties for all; regardless of how you came to this city, we’re glad you’re here.
