Please be advised of the following upcoming and ongoing construction in the ward:

The Clark/Devon Streetscape is Complete!

This week, we celebrated the ribbon cutting of the Clark/Devon Streetscape, a Make Way for People project. The redesign includes new sidewalks, parkway pavers, new lighting, neighborhood identifiers, pedestrian plazas and more! Take a walk down Arthur between Clark and Ashland to see the beautiful greenspace and colorful construction elements the Chicago Department of Transporation (CDOT) has incorporated into this bustling roadway just outside the ward! Reminder: DuSable Lake Shore Drive Resurfacing - Phase II

Resurfacing on DLSD between Hollywood and Lawrence resumed on Tuesday, September 3 as part of Phase II of the CDOT Arterial Resurfacing - North Area Project. During Phase II, CDOT will be paving and installing permanent paving markings. All work is scheduled to be completed by the end of October, 2024. Learn more and see a list of Phase II impacts here.


Berwyn Greenway Update

Have you checked out the new bike lanes along Berwyn? Over the past few weeks, CDOT has been laying down green bike lanes and new crosswalks as part of the Berwyn Greenway project which will connect the he North Shore Channel Trail (NSCT) to the Lakefront Trail (LFT). See photos of the improvements to the intersection of Berwyn/Broadway above. Learn more about the project here


Sidewalk Improvements

Be advised of construction and repair work on the following sidewalks: 

  • 5870 N Ridge 

  • 901 - 907 W Argyle (includes a tree removal)


Hollywood & Kenmore Resurfacing

Resurfacing work is in progress on both Hollywood and Kenmore! Construction on Kenmore will be complete as soon as the new bike lanes are painted while work on Hollywood is scheduled to wrap up in late October of this year. Read more about these peojects here.


RPM Extended Road and Alley Closures

The following roads and alleys in the ward will be closed due to the Red and Purple Modernization (RPM) project:

Extended Parking Lane Closure & Traffic Shifts
Foster Avenue from Broadway - Winthrop Avenue

  • Sunday, August 25 - Saturday, September 28

  • Work Activity: Street Reconstruction & Shoring Tower Construction & Staging


Single Day Closures
Winona at the CTA Tracks

  • 3 single-day closures between Wednesday, August 28 and Tuesday, October 1

  • Community to be notified 48 hours in advance of each single-day closure

  • Work Activity: Concrete Placement & Shoring Tower Construction & Staging


24/7 Street Closures
Ardmore from Broadway - Winthrop

  • NEW DATES: Saturday, September 7 - Saturday, September 21

  • Work Activity: Street, Sidewalk Restoration & Screen Wall Installation

Catalpa from Broadway - Winthrop

  • Thursday, August 22 - Saturday, September 28

  • Work Activity: Street & Sidewalk Restoration


Alley Closures
Alley behind 5700 - 5758 N Winthrop

  • NEW DATES: Friday, August 9 - Saturday, August 31

  • Work Activity: Alley Reconstruction

  • Alternative parking at 5826 N Broadway and 5840 N Broadway.
