Construction Updates: February 5, 2025
Please be advised of the following upcoming and ongoing construction in the ward:
Lighting Installation on Edgewater and Glenwood
Lighting installation in the following locations is scheduled to begin this week pending clearance from and coordination with existing utilities, current work schedule fluctuations, and weather permitting:
Edgewater from Glenwood - Clark
Glenwood from Edgewater - Ridge
During construction, temporary “No Parking” signs will be periodically installed as needed. These temporary signs will restrict parking during working hours, allowing residents to park normally after the posted hours, overnight, and most weekends.
The existing lights will remain working until the new lighting system is functional. If no lighting is observed at night at any time, please notify 311. Existing light poles will be removed once the new lighting system is functioning properly. This work is part of the Chicago Residential Lighting Improvements program.
Ridge/Hollywood Sewer Main Replacement Project
Soon, the Department of Water Management (DWM) will begin work on a sewer main and lead service line replacement project along Hollywood, Ridge, and other nearby roads. Many of the lines being replaced date back to as early as 1833!
This project will be broken up into four phases:
Jan-May: Contractor work (see area highlighted in blue above)
Feb-May: Sewer Main replacement (see area highlighted in red above)
May-Sept: Lead service line replacement (entire project area)
Ongoing: Restoration and CDOT work
Work on this project is expected to wrap up during fall 2025. Please note that project details are subject to change. Contact info@the48thward.org with questions.
