Native American Heritage Month 2024

November is Native American Heritage Month, a time to celebrate the culture and traditions of indigenous populations and recognize their long history on this land where we spend our lives. The 48th ward office akcnowledges the Kiikaapoi, Peoria, Kaskaskia, Potawatomi, and Myaamia nations on whose land we live and work. We pay respect to their elders past, present, and emerging. The Native and Indigenous Allies Committee of the Chicago Public Library invite all to celebrate Native and Indigenous peoples. This year, they celebrate Indigenous S.T.E.AM., Indigenous ways of knowing that have major impacts on our foodways, nature’s wellbeing, pop culture, sports, architecture, and all fields of science and engineering.
