ICE on Notice Executive Order
On January 31, Alderwoman Manaa-Hoppenworth stood with her colleagues at City Hall for the signing of the ICE On Notice Executive Order (EO 2026-1). The order directs the Chicago Police Department (CPD) to investigate and document alleged illegal activity by federal immigration agents, making Chicago the first city to create infrastructure for referring federal agents for criminal prosecution. Other key features of the executive order include:
condemns violent and lethal federal immigration enforcement tactics
defines CPD's role during federal immigration enforcement
requires medical care, documentation, and accountability when harm or suspected unlafwul conduct occurs
