48th WARD GREEN COUNCIL: FIRST MEETING RECAP

Thanks to everyone who came to the first meeting of the 48th ward Green Council! Weren't able to be there? No problem! You can view a recording of the meeting here or read on for a brief summary of what we worked on.

  • Introductions: We started the meeting with introductions from our leadership team before going around the room and hearing from everyone about their history in the 48th ward and interest in sustainability work. Read leadership bios here.

  • Values Discussion: We brainstormed shared values related to environmentalism and sustainability by putting sticky notes with words and phrases on a board at the center of the room (and in the Zoom chat), stacking similar words and phrases on top of each other. From this exercise, we arrived at six major themes that you can read more about here.

  • Community Visioning Process Brainstorming: We look forward to offering opportunities for the entire community to share feedback and ideas for sustainability projects/priorities. At this first meeting, we conducted some initial brainstorming to determine what this process might look like.

NEXT STEPS:

  • Audrey will send a follow up email to members of the Green Council with action items and a date for our next meeting.
