Construction Updates: May 1, 2024
Neighbors, please be aware of the following projects that are set to begin soon:
4911 N Winthrop will have sidewalk improvements alongside the address.
Root pruning is set to take place alongside 5000 N Marine Dr.
5356 N Sheridan (Wing Hoe) Demolition Update
The Department of Buildings (DOB) has started to demolish 5356 N Sheridan at our office’s request. Since the last fire, the building has been a hazard to the community. We met with the building owners, directing them to board up the windows and remove other safety hazards. We have worked closely with our colleagues in Streets and San to do clean-ups of the public way. Ultimately, to fully remove the hazard, the building needed to come down.
Construction is expected to begin later this year on a new 50-unit residential building. The project went through the community process years ago, and we look forward to seeing it through to fruition. Thank you to the community for your continued engagement on this issue.
Alley Reconstruction on Hollywood, Bryn Mawr, Glenwood, & Wayne
This additional project began earlier this week. Due to the nature of the construction (sewer upgrades and excavation), neighbors will not have access to their alleys and subsequent garages for up to 5 weeks. CDOT has also informed the neighbors that during construction:
Residential garage pickups will be curbside, so homeowners are asked to relocate their bins to the front of the property.
Individuals with private refuse are advised to contact your service to make special arrangements for pickup.
Barricades will block all entrances to the alley.
Homeowners are advised to seek alternative parking.
