Congratulations to Angel Rubi Navarijo on his CCPSA Appointment!
Congratulations to our very own Director of Neighborhood Services, Angel Rubi Navarijo, on his appointment to the newly created Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability (CCPSA). Learn more about the CCPSA here at the City of Chicago website.
This is a part-time position that Angel and all other Commissioners perform in service to our city in their free time. Angel is exceptionally well qualified for this position – the nominating committee reviewed more than 100 applications and interviewed more than 30 candidates during their process and Angel’s excellent application stood out amongst the others. The Mayor appointed seven candidates nominated by the committee, and the City Council voted overwhelming to approve Angel's appointment.
Angel will serve as one of two Youth Commissioners and brings to the role an accomplished career serving in government at the local, state, and federal levels, as well as working closely with the CPD. Angel is a DREAMer and a DACA recipient who has previously served on the interim CCPSA’s Non-Citizen Advisory Council and we are thrilled to congratulate him on this well-deserved appointment.
Public safety is our office's top priority and we are proud that one of our team members serves on a Commission with the purpose of “maximizing public health and safety and minimizing harm to people in Chicago;” and “encouraging preventative, proactive, community-based, and evidence-based approaches to public safety.” (Municipal Code of Chicago, 2-80-030)
