Bryn Mawr / Sheridan Water Main Construction

Dear Neighbors,

I am pleased to inform you of the Department of Water Management’s (DWM) intent to construct a new water main along Bryn Mawr from Kenmore to Sheridan and along Sheridan from Bryn Mawr to Foster. This $2.8 million critical infrastructure project will replace water main pipes that are over 120 years old.

PROJECT SCOPE: DWM-authorized contractor Pan-Oceanic Engineering Co. will install approximately 2,511 feet of 8-inch and 325 feet of 12-inch water main-line with complete service connections. Upon completion of the water main installation, the contractor will begin the replacement of all lead service lines for residents within the limits of the newly installed water main. Restoration will follow, including full-width street resurfacing and the repair of any impacted parkways and sidewalks.

TIMELINE: Construction is expected to begin in June, with completion of the water main projected for late October. Restoration is anticipated to occur in the spring of 2027.

RESTORATION: Following the water main installation and service connections, the street will be partially restored so that traffic is not impacted. Any damaged parkways and sidewalks will also be repaired. Final restoration, including full-width resurfacing, will follow once scheduling is available.

RESULTS: After the new water main has been installed, the area will experience an increase in the availability of water for fire protection and domestic use.

PARKING AND TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

  • “No Parking” signs will be posted during construction hours (7AM – 4PM).

  • Parking will be allowed outside of work hours and on weekends.

  • Local traffic may be limited during work hours due to staging of trucking and the movements of other machinery needed to perform the work.

No permanent lane closures are anticipated. Every effort will be made to expedite project completion and minimize inconvenience. Sign up for regular project updates at the48thward.org/news. Yours in community,
