On Thursday, March 20, the Chicago Plan Commission voted unanimously to approve a $71.1 million, 90-Unit, 100% affordable development at 5853 N Broadway in Edgewater. Alderwoman Manaa-Hoppenworth has been an enthusiastic supporter the project, which will be built on the current ward yard next to the Broadway Armory.

Last year, Alderwoman Manaa-Hoppenworth helped to secure the Low Income Housing Tax Credit that was essential in moving this project forward. Earlier this year, our office co-hosted a job fair at the Armory to recruit local contractors and workers for the construction of the project. The development will be 11 stories tall, include 18 fully ADA accessible homes, and use all electric appliances. You can see the full presentation given to the Chicago Plan Commission here. We look forward to groundbreaking on this project later this year!
