Meet the New 24th and 20th District Commanders

Please join us in welcoming Commanders Alison Christian and Beth Giltmier to the 24th and 20th police district respectively. The 24th police district includes the 48th ward north of Thorndale while the 20th district includes the 48th ward south of Thorndale. Read more about Commanders Christian and Giltmier below.


Commander Alison Christian – 24th District

Commander Christian is a 28-year member of the Department who most recently served as the Captain in the 24th (Rogers Park) District, where she has worked for the majority of her career. She has gained extensive knowledge of the District in her service as a Tactical Lieutenant, Watch Operations Lieutenant and Field Lieutenant. During her early career as a supervisor, she served the 24th District as a Sector Sergeant, District Station Supervisor and Community Policing Sergeant. She has also served as a Captain in the 10th (Ogden) District and a Watch Operation Lieutenant in the 11th (Harrison) District. Commander Christian holds a bachelor's degree in Public Safety Management from Calumet College of Saint Joseph.

Commander Beth Giltmier - 20th District

Commander Giltmier is a 34-year member of the Department who most recently served as the Commander of the 12th (Near West) District, where she was the Executive Officer. Prior to that, she served as the Executive Officer of the 3rd (Grand Crossing) District. As a Lieutenant, she served in the 10th (Ogden) District as a Watch Operations Lieutenant. As a Sergeant, she worked in the Firearms Lab as an ATF certified firearms examiner. She also previously worked in the 19th, 20th, 12th, and 5th Districts. She has a bachelor’s degree in Public Safety Management from Calumet College of St. Joseph, and holds a master's degree in Public Administration from the Illinois Institute of Technology. She attended the Police Executive Research Forum's Senior Management Institute for Police.
