4920 N Sheridan: Zoning Change Request Decision

Please review the following statement from Alderwoman Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth:

After careful consideration, I have decided to support the zoning change request for 4920 N Sheridan, from B3-2, to B2-5. The applicant(s) and owner of the current empty property, Kenny and Andy Lau, want to build a 5-story, 31-unit multifamily residential building with 20% of its units at a 60% AMI.

The applicant has agreed to numerous sustainability measures, and has received the endorsements of the direct neighborhood-based organization(s). The applicant wants to offer units at a lower average rate than what the current market dictates, develop within and trigger the TOD ordinance, and provide dynamic amenities for residents.

I’m proud to support local developers who will provide a much needed increase in our current housing stock. Working with developers to bring in quality housing and preserve existing affordable housing remains a top priority for this office.

I’d like to thank our residents of the 48th ward for reaching out to our office and submitting feedback for this zoning change request. I look forward to continuing to engage with all 48th ward residents moving forward.
