Happy Principal Appreciation Week to Our 48th Ward Principals!

The 48th Ward is home to six Chicago Public Schools. This Principal Appreciation Week, we want to celebrate the incredible principals of these schools and thank them for their dedication to the youth in our community. Read on to learn more about our principals and how they build strong, vibrant learning environments in our local public schools. 


Chris Twomey - Stephen K. Hayt Elementary School

Chris Twomey is the proud principal of the diverse Stephen K. Hayt Elementary School. He has dedicated 15 years of service at Hayt Elementary School, first as the assistant principal and for the past three years as the principal. Mr. Twomey strives to create a supportive and harmonious school culture where students can thrive and where parents feel welcomed and supported.


Lori Zaimi - Helen C. Peirce School of International Studies

Lori Zaimi is in her 10th year as Principal at Peirce School and 24th year serving the students and families of Chicago. A graduate and parent of Chicago Public Schools, she is a servant leader who centers equity and inclusion while creating a school environment that develops the whole child through the schools Primary and Middle Years International Baccalaureate programs.


Holly Dacres - Nicholas Senn High School

If you were to ask Principal Holly Dacres what the best job in the world is, time and time again, she would say it is being principal. She's proud of all that Senn has to offer to its students, teachers, and families, and she appreciates the diversity and multiple pathways for student success.

As a CPS parent she values strong neighborhood community connection and loves being a part of a school that continues to find ways to incorporate partnerships and provide opportunities for students to be successful beyond high school. Her goal as a principal is to always lead a school that she would want her own children to attend and where students are the number one priority.


Bill Yeh - William C. Goudy Technology Academy

Principal Bill Yeh is celebrating 22 years in Chicago Public Schools and 17 years serving the the students and families of Goudy Technology Academy. As a first-generation immigrant from Taiwan, Principal Yeh knows firsthand the challenges faced by many of Goudy's students and families and works tirelessly to ensure that all students have the best learning environment possible, no matter their circumstances.

Principal Yeh is grateful for the honor and privilege of serving the students and families at Goudy and he looks forward to many more years of helping to make Goudy a great place to learn!


Margaret Alhasoon - George B. Swift Specialty School

Margaret Alhasoon is the Principal of the diverse George B. Swift Specialty School and a proud graduate of Chicago Public Schools. Formerly an assistant principal at Jordan Elementary in Rogers Park, she is dedicated to creating experiences and systems that are best for student learning and that help teachers learn and grow. Her focus is to nurture and foster high quality educational experiences at Swift.


Kahinde Longmire - John T. McCutcheon STEAM School

Kahinde Longmire is the proud principal of McCutcheon STEAM School on the border of the 48th and 46th ward. Mrs. Longmire has dedicated the last 30 years to supporting and nurturing children and families across the City of Chicago. She has been at McCutcheon for five years and is entering her 3rd year as principal. Her passion is to create an environment that supports equity, equality, and inclusion for all students and staff.
