Vote in Upcoming Local School Council Elections

"Vote in your upcoming Local School Council Elections" in bold typography

Local School Council (LSC) members are elected every two years by parents, community members, and school staff. Members serve two-year terms, with the exception of student representatives, who serve one-year terms. LSCs serve as an important vehicle for participatory democracy, providing a wide variety of stakeholders an opportunity to make important decisions about how students in their communities will be educated.

LSC elections are right around the corner, and voting is a great way to get involved with your community at the hyper-local level. All Chicago Public School students, parents, and staff can vote in these elections as well as community members who are at least 17 years old. U.S. citizenship is not a requirement to vote.

Use the LSC elections map to find out where you are eligible to vote, and visit the Chicago Public Schools page on LSC elections to learn more about egligibility, required ID, and voting instructions.

Election Dates:

  • Elementary Schools vote on Wednesday, April 10 from 6am to 7pm.

  • High Schools vote on Thursday, April 11 from 6am to 7pm.
