The next grid scheduled for trimming is shown below.

The City’s Bureau of Forestry (BoF) follows a grid-based tree trimming system to ensure efficient and equitable maintenance of Chicago’s urban tree canopy. Crews trim all trees within a 16-block area on a designated day. Once trimmed, trees should not require additional maintenance for at least five years.

Tree Emergency

Use the Tree Emergency service request for urgent situations involving a parkway tree, including:

  • A tree or large branch blocking a street, sidewalk, or alley

  • A parkway tree or branch that has fallen onto a vehicle

  • A parkway tree or branch that has fallen onto a house, garage, or other structure

  • Another immediate public-safety hazard caused by a parkway tree

Special Requests

For non-emergency requests, please submit a Special Tree Trim Request Form. After submitting, please email info@the48thward.org if we do not reach out to you in a timely manner.

You can do your part by looking out for posted “No Parking” signs and by reminding your neighbors to do the same. We also recommend reviewing the city's claims process for trees that impact your property. To report tree emergencies (such as a fallen or hanging tree limb that is blocking the public way or obstructing traffic control measures) contact 311 or our office.
